“Shut Up and Drink Your Beer”

The story of Fat Lou’s began when Chicago native Lou Sweilem would come to Florida to avoid the freezing Midwest winters. During visits, he couldn’t find the Chicago-style street food he liked — juicy hot dogs, wings, gyros, Italian beef.

As a sandwich shop owner in Chicago, Lou saw an opportunity and joined a cousin in Palm Beach County; that was nine years ago. Within three years Lou relocated to Hallandale Beach where he opened with a new name: “Fat Lou’s” — a  high school nickname that defies his now lean form.

Fat Lou’s has been featured in the news multiple times, as it’s the only Chicago Sports themed restaurant in South Florida. In 2010 Fat Lou’s moved to a new location where you can still find good ol’ Chicago sports on TV and count on a Chicago-style menu to keep you coming back for more.
